About Me: I spend most of my free time either biking along the Pacific Coast Highway or trying to find the city's best fish taco. I also enjoy running, golf, playing the guitar, and going to outdoor concerts.
Why I Chose UC San Diego: UCSD has a great diversity of training environments, and by training in these different systems, I know I'll be ready for whatever professional opportunities lie ahead.
Favorite Place in San Diego: Sunset Cliffs
Best Part of Living in San Diego: If you have to work six days a week, on that seventh day you have the option to hike in the mountains, bike on the Pacific Coast Highway, run on the boardwalk, surf at the beach, or even make a quick trip to Mexico.
Career Plans: Sports Medicine.

Over 20 of our residents and interns presented either a clinical vignette or a research poster at the American College of Physicians Southern California Regional Scientific Meeting in October.
Special congratulations to our residents Will Stendardi, MD (PGY-1), and Trisha Sharma, MD (PGY-3), who won second and third place in the competition.

Dr. Ali Farkhondehpour Receives Lee Rickman Humanism Award
This year's recipient of the Lee Rickman Humanism in Medicine Award is Dr. Ali Farkhondehpour, now one of our chief medical residents in 2016-2017.
The award is given each year to the resident who most embodies the energy and devotion of Lee Rickman, MD, a UC San Diego residency program graduate and Department of Medicine faculty member who practiced infectious disease medicine with singular passion until his death in 2003.
