Our Research Programs
The UC San Diego Department of Medicine is a national leader in internal medicine research. In fiscal year 2015, our biomedical research program cost expenditures totaled $114.7 million.
In "Best Medical Schools 2017" from U.S.News & World Report, the UC San Diego School of Medicine is 18th overall in research training and 21st in primary care. The HIV/AIDS program (Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and Owen Clinic) is ranked 11th in the nation.
